Green and gold themed graphic made in Canva that restates the name, time, and location of the event.. Namely, 5pm on Tuesday, October 22nd in ERC 1501. The title is "Engaging Communities with Non-Violent Communication" and the subtitle is "Learn to use Nonviolent Communication to defuse tension and build stronger community connections."

Non-Violent Communication (NVC) is a communication style developed by Marshall B. Rosenberg, PhD in which actions are observed, and then feelingsneeds, and requests are clearly stated. Rosenberg has used this communication style in many contexts ranging from peace deliberations in Israel to marital counseling and settling disputes between gangs.

In this workshop we will:

  1. Cover the NVC framework, goals, and applications
  2. Discuss how to be heard while being empathetic to community members with differing opinions
  3. Practice scenarios where NVC may be used
