Faculty & Staff:
OAS provides the guidance below for instructors with students who have extended time exam accommodations or other accommodations related to exams. Questions or concerns regarding how to address these situations should be directed to oas@clarkson.edu.
Final exam delivery and return information
- Please submit your final exams to OAS at least two business days in advance. OAS proctors approximately 600 final exams. Timely exam delivery has a direct impact on the number of evening hours our staff must work.
- Returning final exams as quickly as possible is a high priority. We instruct proctors to immediately return the final exams. If the return location is closed, we instruct proctors to call the number listed on the cover sheet to find out if you are on campus and if so, to return the exams to you. If you are unavailable at that time or if it is after 10pm (when the last regular exam ends), proctors will return exams the following morning around 9am.
Obtaining list of students with accommodations
- Instructors are able to view all students whom they have acknowledged accommodations for in their classes through the Faculty Center. Students with pending acknowledgements will not appear on this list.
- If you are team teaching a course, all instructors will want to work together to create a complete list of students with accommodations since students can send the accommodation acknowledgement to any instructor listed for the class.
- Log in to myCU and navigate to the Faculty Center.
- On the left side menu, click CU Students w/ Accommodations.
- Hide the left side menu by clicking the blue button with two vertical lines.
- Type the current term code (Fall 2024 is 4249). Click the magnifying glass and search for the current term code if preferred. Note: Spring terms are 4+[last two digits of year]+2. Fall terms are 4+[last two digits of year]+9.
- Click View Results. If desired, export results to Excel.
Setting up extended time accommodations for online exams
- For online exams not proctored by OAS, it is the responsibility of instructors to set up extended time on Moodle (or other chosen platform) for eligible students. Students should not be instructed to contact OAS about using their accommodation if they have submitted their accommodation to their instructor.
- Provide extended time through Moodle quiz overrides (or other chosen platform). Moodle quiz override instructions can be found here.
- Extended time is double the regular exam time. For example, a 3 hour exam requires 6 hours for extended time.
Exam conflicts for students with extended time (e.g., 7pm start time, students with 3+ exams in one day, or overlapping exams)
- Students have been informed that they need to communicate with OAS to set up accommodations no later than November 1 at 4pm ET to ensure OAS is able to process final exams.
- If you have any exams scheduled for 7pm, OAS will reschedule those exams at 5pm.
- Students with three or more exams scheduled on the same day must reschedule one exam to another day. The Academic Regulations (III-H-4) state the priority for such conflicts. OAS will arrange for the third exam to be rescheduled based on space availability. OAS will not accept requests for different dates/times.
- If a student has overlapping exams on their myCU schedule, OAS will reschedule one or both exams as described below.

MyCU Listed Time | New Time | |
Exam 1 | 8:00am-11:00am | 8:00am-2:00pm |

Other disabilities impacted by examsStudents may have disabilities that are unique in nature and therefore it is not possible to make generic statements for their accommodations. Students in this situation have been instructed to communicate with OAS no later than November 1 regarding their concerns and accommodation requests. OAS will facilitate communication between instructors and students about these unique needs.
