Beyond the Medium Senior Capstone Exhibition 2025
Beyond the Medium bridges the gap between different mediums of art, communication and expression in a showcase that exhibits Clarkson University’s graduating Arts and Humanities senior class talents and achievements. Located in the basement of Snell Hall on May 9th, Beyond the Medium will be open to the public to explore the route of creative expression our seniors have to offer, from virtual games and showcases, tactile magazines and posters, to in person interactive experiences. All are welcome to the show!
Exhibition will be held the evening before graduation on Friday May 9th from 6pm-8pm in the basement of Snell Hall. The exhibition will also be open for viewing the morning of Saturday May 10th from 10am-12pm. The exhibition rooms are elevator accessible and the creative works being shown are appropriate for all ages.

My work uses web technology to bridge a gap within the card counting community by developing a fully-featured simulator designed to replicate the realistic difficulty of card counting, all without the need to go to a casino. By creating this application, I aim to debunk the common myth that card counting is an easy skill to master, showing the immense complexity and precision required. The simulator is not only a training tool, but it allows users to test and refine their card counting skills in a controlled environment that mimics real-world play.

The ability to create something that is simply an idea or even just a small thought, is one of, if not the biggest, driving factor behind abigails works. The ability to bring to life and create something visual from just words and concepts is almost magical, and makes someone feel like anything can be created. It is in the same way that another big driving factor behind the love for art is the ability to bring creativity into the world. It is a big way that simple boring things can be more fun and enjoyable to look at and engage with. Being able to customize almost anything so that someone can enjoy looking at a product that otherwise would be boring is one of her favorite ways to make something more enjoyable. It is the best way to bring imagination into a world that doesn’t always appreciate it.

I have always loved to write ever since I was a little girl. Even back then when I made my first character and wrote the first two sentences of the book series I was going to showcase to the world. Now that book is here 10 years later of grueling yet rewarding trial and error. For my capstone I want to debut my novel In The Absence and showcase my art and the effort that went into writing a full length novel over the course of my time here at Clarkson University as a final goodbye to the school that helped me finish my dreams of being an author.

For my senior project, I wanted a way to combine my love for nature and creativity. I decided to design a creative magazine for the purpose of showcasing my skills in graphic design, as well as my love for the outdoors by combining photographs of my adventures, guides of hikes I’ve done, and poems from close friends and myself. Over the years my passion for photography has grown, with nature being my greatest inspiration and favorite subject to capture. I’ve always dreamed of putting my photos to better use than just sitting on an SD card and I love the style of scrapbooking, so I wanted to challenge myself to create a digital scrapbook. With the skills I’ve learned from being in this major, my dreams are now reality. I hope this magazine inspires others to explore the outdoors, appreciate the beauty of nature, and find creative ways to share their own passions. It’s not just a collection of images and words—it’s a reflection of who I am, what I value, and how far I’ve come as a designer and storyteller.

As an experimental artist, I explored a wide range of mediums and techniques throughout the development of my project. From digital design to traditional forms like painting, collage, interior design, and photography, I explored aesthetics and layout with a deep appreciation for the creative process itself. My goal was to craft an experience that evokes a sense of happiness and a dreamy state. The inspiration behind the project draws from my personal passion for healthy living and the holistic connection between mind, body, and self.
