Student Project/Job Opportunity

Clarkson has a pool of talented graduate students who seek resume-contributing experiences while in residence here at Clarkson in Potsdam. While many of our students are seeking any and all on-campus employment opportunities, we would ideally like to match students to opportunities that will enable them to use their acquired and new knowledge and talents for the benefit of the University.  Examples of talents our students have include: data structure and management, data analysis, data visualization, project management (short-term or longer-term), process development, process improvement, financial analysis, etc. Additionally, our students are uniquely poised to offer a student perspective in opportunities related to admissions and student support services.

If you have projects that have been sitting on the back burner that would provide a good experience for our students, please submit your BRIEF project/job descriptions here:  https://forms.gle/TmuQweojJzvd5Fwf6.  Submissions will be taken on a rolling basis. Once received, the descriptions will be posted in Handshake so our students have an equitable opportunity to apply. We are piloting the process and approach, so for the summer and at least the upcoming fall semester, the Graduate School team will manage getting these posted in Handshake and approving timecards (with check-ins with managers to validate hours).   Students can earn up to $3,500 per year, so envision projects or duties that translate to about 200 hours-ish per year. These can be concentrated in summer or spread over the semester(s).  Funds become available with the new fiscal year in July.  NOTE: these are funds directed specifically for graduate student employment. They cannot be used for undergraduate support. We have the opportunity to support many project ideas here while giving students a GREAT working experience, so do not be shy about proposing more than one request (or more than several).  Please do keep in mind that an experience-appropriate level of supervision of these students, along with professional feedback, will be expected by the project managers.
NOTE: These funds cannot be used to support work on research projects on which other students are working, especially if the other students are not funded. We absolutely do not want to drive inequities. Also, fully-funded students will not be eligible for these experiences.

THANK YOU!
