The Clarkson University Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Marathon team traveled to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio this past weekend to compete in the annual Air Force Marathon.
Ten cadets from Clarkson and one cadet from Saint Lawrence University completed the full marathon, half marathon, or 10k events. In the half marathon event, AF Marathon Team Leader and Biology student Michael Gagnon ’20 placed 4th in the Men’s 20-24 division and 13th overall with a time of 1 hour 22 minutes and 18 seconds.
This year marked the 22nd Air Force Marathon and participants came from all fifty states and several foreign countries. Cadets from several other Air Force ROTC Detachments participated as well.
The Clarkson representatives who completed the full marathon were aeronautical engineering student Morgan Deleel ’19, computer science student James Meeker ’20, and electrical engineering student Zane Henderson ’21.
The Clarkson participants who completed the half marathon in addition to Cadet Gagnon were civil engineering student Tyler Fefee ’19, mechanical engineering student Alissa Satterfield ’20, chemical engineering student William Bruce, ’20, and aeronautical engineering students Cullen Scheer ’20 and Nick Fallo ’21. The Clarkson representative who completed the 10K was mechanical engineering student Jacob Geil.
The team also included the Cadet Wing Vice Commander and Saint Lawrence University computer science student Maggie Ireland ’19 who completed the half marathon.
