The Clarkson University Occupational Therapy Department is gearing up for their 8th annual assistive technology expo, which will be held here on campus on November 2 and 3. This conference includes presentations by Clarkson faculty and students, as well as experts in the field of assistive technology from around the country. Day 1 consists of approximately 20 breakout sessions addressing a variety of AT-related topics, while Day 2 is comprised of multiple “make and take” projects that participants can choose from.
Of special interest to our Clarkson community, this year’s Distinguished Lecturers, Marla Roll, MS, OTR and Matthew Malcolm, PhD, OTR/L of Colorado State University will be discussing their research on AT use in higher education settings to promote student success.
In addition to the formal conference activities, we are opening up our student posters, exhibitor booths, and keynote presentation by Flame, The Band to the general public between 5:00 – 8:30 pm on November 2 at Snell Hall. Refreshments and a cash bar will be available.
While the event is catered to professionals, special funding has been made available to individuals with disabilities, their family members and caregivers who are interested in attending and learning more about technology to support participation, success, independence, and safety. Those interested in learning more about this funding should contact Lisa Tebo in the OT Department for more information (ltebo@clarkson.edu).
