Ben Winchester, Researcher and Educator of Community Economics at the University of Minnesota Extension, will keynote the 17th annual North Country Symposium. With our region seeking to recruit residents to enhance our economic stability and quality of life, Winchester will share insights into national rural migration patterns and the factors that influence the decisions of migrating populations on where they will live, work, and play. Such insights will help communities across our region recruit residents who will be the next business starters, workforce, and civic leaders. A panel of newcomers and returnees will share their reactions to our region while workshops led by Winchester will inform recruitment strategies. At the Symposium, we will also hear from speakers about emerging initiatives such as the North Country Center for Businesses in transition, the St. Lawrence County Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership CORE program, and a new resident recruitment program in St. Lawrence County – and learn how we can all help them to be successful!
