Annual Fire Detection System Inspections Planned for Schuler Recreation Facility

NCC Systems be conducting a rescheduled fire alarm inspection and testing at the IRC/Fitness Center/Alumni Gym during Fall Break on Monday, Oct 8th. Technicians will begin at approximately 8-8:30 AM and should conclude by early afternoon. Due to the break, it’s expected there will be fewer patrons of the building than normal, however the Fitness Center and pool will still be open.

All NCC Systems technicians will be wearing visually identifiable company attire, and will have company photo ID’s. They may or may not be accompanied by Clarkson University FAS Maintenance staff during the inspection process.

Inspections in both buildings will include NCC Systems technician(s) entering each room in the building to test smoke and/or heat detectors to ensure they operate properly. No alarms will sound beyond those within earshot of the fire alarm control panel for the vast majority of time. Overall test sounding of alarms and strobes will also take place, which should be short-lived to keep intrusions and interruptions at a minimum. Test alarm activations will be coordinated with Campus Safety & Security.

As always, NEVER assume an activation of a campus fire alarm system is just a test! When horns sound and strobes flash, one should immediately evacuate the building according to building fire plans.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation and our efforts to keep the Clarkson Community safe.
