The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that demand for Information Security Analysts will outpace all other occupations averaged together by 4:1. Oh, and the median annual salary was over $95,000 … not too shabby.

While you’re considering career choices, also consider these tips to help secure your accounts, your data and our networks!
- Use Two Factor Authentication on any account that supports it. This will usually require you to accept the login via an app on your smartphone, or enter a code sent via text or phone call. It’s a really easy way to make sure that only you can access your accounts!
- Encrypt your data Have tax, school, financial or other documents you don’t want anyone seeing? Encrypt them with a password. Microsoft Word and Excel have this feature built in, as does Adobe Acrobat for PDFs. Have a lot of files to encrypt? Use 7-Zip. Do not store the password with the file it protects, but most importantly: don’t lose the password! Not having the password will keep the bad guys out, but it’ll keep you out, too! OIT won’t be able to recover your data if you encrypt it and forget the password.

Colonel Jori Robinson is an award-winning Intelligence and Cyber Officer, Program Manager, Leader, and Academic with a distinguished record of achievement in Intelligence Collection and Analysis, Counter-intelligence, Counter-terrorism, Cyberspace Operations, Mentoring, Writing and Briefing. Currently, she is the Vice Wing Commander of the 175th Wing of the Maryland Air National Guard. The 175th Wing is comprised of over 1,400 personnel and supports both a flying operations and cyber operations groups. She has 19 years of experience as an Intelligence Analyst and leader with an outstanding record of achievement in the Department of Defense (DoD). She is a recognized DoD expert in the employment of tactical and national intelligence assets (ground and airborne) to include intelligence collection reporting requirements, support to war fighters, counterintelligence operations, and cyberspace policy, doctrine and tactics. She has proven skills directing multimillion dollar intelligence operations in both the US and in concert with foreign nations. She also has extensive experience in leadership, personnel management, operations management, staff planning, budget management and policy development. In addition to her extensive military career, she served as a deputy project manager for the Next Century Corporation where she managed day-to-day operations, staffing, customer relationships, and business development for a major portion of the company’s business portfolio.
She is a graduate of the Harvard University National Security Fellowship in Cyber/Electronic Operations and Warfare and holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from George Washington University and a Master of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from the University of Oklahoma. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Missouri.
