TEDxClarksonU Will Feature Alumni Speaking About the Internet of Things on March 2

Clarkson University will once again host TEDxClarksonU on March 2 in the student center forum from 10 a.m. to noon and will feature a unique lineup of highly esteemed speakers exploring the Internet of Things.

The speakers for TEDxClarksonU include Charlotte Hayden ’16, James F. Burke Jr. ‘92, Shannon Chevier and Demetrius Glover.

CU Alumni participate in the TEDx event on campus, Saturday, April 21, 2018, with Congressman Paul Tonko

Originally from Schenectady, Hayden is the founder of Better Brew Flavors, a craft simple syrup company focused on bringing your favorite café flavors to your home. Hayden graduated from Clarkson in 2016 with a degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. After spending years working with local and national coffee brands, and traveling the world exploring the unique coffee culture, Charlotte took her passion for coffee and is now disrupting the simple syrup industry.

Burke is a chief architect and senior manager in the Corporate Engineering and Technology Operations group of Lockheed Martin. A proud Clarkson alumnus of the Electrical & Computer Engineering degree program, Burke has been involved with revolutionary technologies for use in the commercial and defense industries.

Chevier, also a Clarkson alumna, co-founded IMSWorkX, Inc. after seeing a shift in the customer base of telecommunications. With over 20 years of experience in software development and management in a variety of fields, Chevier’s career started to center on the telecommunications market in 1999 when she joined Performance Technologies, Inc.

Hailing from the south side of Chicago, Glover is a self-made influencer, who began his life as an entrepreneur at the age of seven. Demetrius is on a mission to bring the best out of himself and others through honesty and vulnerability.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, which is a concept in perfect synergy with Clarkson’s values, according to TEDxClarksonU Organizer Sruti Akula.

“As a campus community that prides itself in defying convention, I think we really align our ideals with some of TED’s ideals,” Akula said. “This is an opportunity for our student body and our faculty and staff to be able to see, in this year’s event, the Internet of Things and new and interesting views and perspectives on the technology that is going on.”
