Invitation to Participate in a Research Project

Dr. Stephanie Schuckers and Dr. Luke Rumbaugh, Clarkson University, perform research in biometrics and are looking for subjects willing to participate in their latest research efforts.

“Evaluation of millimeter-wave radar measurements for biometric recognition”

This project is intended to evaluate the use of a millimeter-wave radar measurements of the hand and arm/wrist, as a means of human identification.

There are no special preparations for participating in this study other to avoid wearing any jewelry or clothing containing metal in the palm or wrist area of each hand. The signals from the hand are collected by radar, using a small and low-power device.

If you choose to participate, your involvement would include two visits. During each visit biometric data from your hand will be collected using different types of equipment.

Collection visit time is estimated at 30 minutes, although it may occasionally take up to 60 minutes. You will be compensated with $15 per visit.  You must be 18 and above to participate in this study.

The biometric data collected from this study will be anonymously stored in the Joint Multi-Modal Biometric Dataset administered by the Center for Identification Technology Research (CITeR). This dataset is used by the biometrics community for research that furthers personal and national security.

If you would like to participate, please email citer@clarkson.edu with days and times that you are available most weeks to participate in our research. Our scheduler will respond back to you to set up an appointment.
