Jason Liang, the 12-year-old son of Clarkson professor of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering Chunlei Liang, took home the gold this week in the 2019 North American Youth Chess Championship (NAYCC) in the under 12 section and secured the title of FIDE Master.
Jason was an Official Representative for the United States Chess Federation participating in the NAYCC tournament held between August 16 and August 20, 2019 in Kingston, Canada. He outperformed 76 other players in the U12 section from the USA, Canada, Mexico, and the Bahamas.
