The Plane Faculty/Staff – Student Endowment Fund

Goal and History:

The goal of The Faculty/Staff-Student Endowment Fund, funded initially by a generous gift of Dr. Robert A. Plane, president of Clarkson 1974-85, and his wife Mary, aims to encourage faculty and staff members to consider informal social gatherings in order to create a strong bond as well as reinforce a sense of belonging between the Clarkson community and its students.

As educators, the Planes maintained a lifelong interest in engineering informal, non-academic, character-building student-faculty/staff interactions on and off campus.  Therefore, this fund provides modest grants to help offset personal costs for refreshments or meals at gatherings in faculty/staff homes and functions held on campus.

Administration:

The Dean of Students is authorized to reimburse up to $150 of a faculty or staff member’s full expenses incurred in holding an event in the faculty or staff member’s home.

The Dean of Students is authorized to reimburse up to $100 of a faculty or staff member’s expenses incurred in holding an event on campus.

Due to the popularity of this program and it's limited funds, we will only be able to honor one request per individual per semester.  During the second semester we recommend you check with the Dean of Students office ahead of time to make sure funds are still available.

How is this accomplished?

Submit a letter to the Dean of Students Office, Box 5570,or email Rae Mackey rmackey@clarkson.edu explaining your event, where and when it was held, students in attendance, and enclose receipts for reimbursement (no alcohol please). Tell us if you are to be reimbursed directly or submit a departmental account number where we can transfer funds. You will first need to submit the receipt in an expense report.

For further questions or information, call the Dean of Students Office at x6620.
