Zoom Meeting Password Update: Zoom recently released additional controls for the password settings for meetings. In the past, users had the option to enable passwords on a meeting-by-meeting basis. With this update, users who join by manually entering in the meeting ID now need to enter a password when joining a meeting. Zoom support documentation indicates the update will not impact users who join by clicking a link in a meeting invite or join through the desktop calendar integration. More information from Zoom.
Zoom Account Ownership: Be aware that sharing a Zoom account among multiple individuals violates Clarkson’s licence agreement with the vendor, and is not permitted. Accounts are assigned to an individual’s email and should only be used by that individual to host and record meetings. Generic email addresses, ie dept@clarkson.edu are not permissible for Zoom accounts.
Zoom Cloud Recordings: Starting 10/1/2019, Zoom recordings stored to the Cloud will be permanently deleted 30 days after recording is generated. For recordings you wish to retain longer than 30 days, you can:
- Record to the local PC. Save to desired location.
- Download the recording as an MP4 from the Cloud prior to 30 day expiration. Save to desired location.
- For Echo360 account holders, Zoom cloud recordings will auto populate to your Echo360 library. Contact IT HelpDesk to inquire about Echo360.
