The abstract of a Biomolecular Science student Sydney Stradtman ’20, of Buffalo, NY, was selected for an oral presentation at the Eastern Analytical Symposium (EAS), to be held in November 17-20 in Princeton, NJ. EAS is a national conference that gathers ~2,500-3,000 attendees.
A member of the Biochemistry & Proteomics Lab led by Associate Professor Costel C. Darie from Clarkson University, Stradtman attended EAS for the first time last November. She was one of the three undergraduate students and three graduate students who attended EAS.
Since then, she decided to go back, but also to present her work. Her oral presentation, entitled “Mass Spectrometry based Proteomic Investigation of Induced Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in Rat Atria” will be in the technical session entitled: “Mass Spectrometry Application: Proteomics and Small Molecule Analysis”.
“I am both excited and frightened to be selected for an oral presentation”, said Stradtman. “This is a great opportunity for an undergraduate student and I will do my utmost to deliver a good presentation!”
This year, Stradtman will be accompanied to EAS by three more undergraduate students: Danielle Whitham, Zaen Manzoor and Shelby Alwine (all of them will have a poster presentation) and two graduate students (Emmalyn Dupree and Madhuri Jayathirtha (both of them will deliver an oral presentation). Dr. Darie, their advisor, will also deliver a lecture and chair a session, too.
