Background: The annual Sustainability Fund has been a long-standing avenue for engaging a cross section of campus in sustainability initiatives.  These efforts have resulted in actions ranging from the installation of water refill bottles to the creation of a campus garden. In the last few years we changed how we use the fund. Instead of several small projects we decided to support one large project each year to have a greater, more focused impact.  The ducted wind turbine on the TAC roof and current reconstruction of the campus greenhouse were funded in the past two years.

Three projects with faculty and staff facilitators have been proposed, one of which will be selected for implementation. The project selected for this year will be determined based on a campus-wide vote AND on the willingness of our community to engage in the project planning and implementation. Please consider the options, vote for your favorite (10/10 – 10/23) and consider volunteering to be involved.  Components of the projects could be integrated into class projects, student internships, club activities or service learning.  For most of these projects, planning and feasibility assessments will continue through the spring semester with implementation to follow.

Questions? Students will be tabling near the Servery on some days during the voting period, 11am-1pm to answer questions. Or send email to Dr. Susan Powers (spowers@clarkson.edu) or Alex French (afrench@clarkson.edu ).
