Clarkson Professor Dr. Dana Barry Receives Outstanding Achievement Award

Dr. Dana Barry, a Research Professor at Clarkson in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering recently received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Materials Research Society of Japan (MRS-J). Her collaborator Professor Hideyuki Kanematsu (of the National Institute of Technology, Suzuka College) also got the award. They were honored for their outstanding contributions to contamination control on materials’ surfaces and for their work with biofilms. The award was presented at the 30th anniversary of the society at the annual convention of MRS-J and a Symposium (related to biofilm engineering) during the conference of the International Union of MRS held in Yokohama, Japan in late November 2019.


Dr. Dana Barry (バリー ・ ダナ  教授 ) proudly displays her Outstanding  Achievement Award from the Materials Research Society of Japan (MRS-J).

Her name can be seen in the second row of Japanese characters in the set on the right. Together Dr. Barry and Dr. Kanematsu have published many journal papers and several Springer textbooks about Surface Finishing, Corrosion Control, and Biofilms.

In addition to her work as a Research Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Clarkson University, she also provides Instructional Support at SUNY Canton, is a professor and Scientific Board President for Ansted University, and serves as an officer and Chemistry Ambassador for the American Chemical Society.
