Update on Construction & Renovation Projects for Campus Life

To all Potsdam students and employees:

Projects both major and minor are looking to be completed over the next 18 months.  Much effort has been made to acquire input from faculty, staff and students to ensure these plans include important features and meet the needs of our community.

Spring 2020 will see the completion of the Cheel renovation and expansion project, the ERC Innovation Hub renovation (up to and including Phase 6) and the relocation of Facilities & Services to the Honda building on Maple Street.

Also this spring, an evaluation will be undertaken of how to provide a better food preparation facility in the Student Center Servery.  This upgrade would lead to more efficient operations that would, in turn, allow greater output and a wider menu selection.

Price Hall residential spaces (Thomas, Newell, Farrisee and Ormsby) will undergo a complete renovation in the summer of 2020.  The design phase is underway with the plan to provide every room with a private bathroom and every floor with a kitchenette-equipped lounge.  Residents will remain on the University meal plan.

Enhancing the CUOC Riverside complex, an existing basement will be opened up to allow for club storage and club activities.  The anticipated construction completion date is summer of 2020.

Beginning in the spring of 2021, Holcroft House will see the first step toward overall building and accessibility improvements with the installation of an elevator on the exterior of the building.  Further building upgrades will follow that summer.

Evaluation of room layout options in Graham Hall residential spaces (Olson, Wilson, Donahue, VanNote) is likewise underway with renovation slated for summer 2021.

Also slated for the summer of 2021, Phase 7 of the ERC renovation project will include a new University advising center, additional quiet space and study area, a new classroom for design teams, and an additional expanded second level mezzanine.  The atrium on the first floor will be equipped to handle larger group presentations.  In the meantime, the Advising Center will relocate to TAC209 until permanent space is provided for them in this phase of the ERC project.

The next year-and-a-half will be busy with these upgrades that will enrich living and learning environments across campus.
