Dear students,
OIT, OSL, Events, and Room Reservations have partnered to utilize the upgrade of Virtual EMS as an opportunity to review and update room reservation functions and procedures. In addition to the new interface, updates are included below:
- Lecture halls (Science Center 160, Science Center 360) will continue to be reservable for student organizations by registering their events in Knight Life. Individual students will no longer be able to request these spaces on EMS.
- For students, the addition of “Request a student study/project space” on Request menu, which includes the Second Floor Student Center Lounge, ERC Group Collaboration and Video Conferencing Rooms, Student Organizations Suite rooms (121 and 123), and Classrooms.
- Student Center spaces will still be reservable for student organizations by registering their events in Knight Life. Individual students will no longer be able to request Student Center event spaces using Virtual EMS.
- Faculty and staff may still use the Student Center for student events, but all requests for Student Center spaces will be reviewed to ensure the building is used for student-centered purposes.

- In accordance with prioritizing student events within the Student Center, student events will no longer be approved for the Barben Rooms, CAMP Atrium, or Snell Atrium. Thus the Barben Rooms will primarily be used for faculty/staff-focused events and the Student Center will primarily be used for student-focused events. CAMP and Snell Atrium are used as student study spaces and should not be used for most events.
