Message from President Collins for CRC and Beacon Institute Employees

Faculty and Staff at the Capital Region Campus and Beacon Institute (all other campuses copied for reference.)

For the week of March 16 – 20, faculty and staff at the Capital Region Campus (CRC) and Beacon Institute will be practicing aggressive social distancing and have been asked to work from home for the remainder of the week.  All employees are expected to be available by both phone and email unless they are on vacation or using sick or personal time.  All CRC and Beacon classes and exams will be online:  There will be no in-person classes, presentations or final exams to end the quarter for courses being conducted from either location.

For employees with school-aged children impacted by the new announcements of K-12 closures, Monday will be provided as an extra paid time-off day for you while you make adjustments to you households’ plans.  We recognize that many of you will have needs beyond the obvious childcare needs and we will work with individual employees.

The University Emergency Response Team is monitoring information from local, New York State and Federal representatives respective to directives for specific locations. Based on the counsel from those agencies, we will be reviewing additional information to assess the need to continue to work from home at these two University operations and others.   We will update protocols, as necessary, to keep our students, faculty and staff safe.

President Tony Collins
