Good Knight – Clarkson’s STEP Program celebrates Earth Day

As we work through a challenging time – each of us focusing on doing all the right things in the face of uncertainty – your extended Clarkson family is thinking of you.

Each evening, we hope to share a story of good things, Good Knights, as a way to remind each of us that, despite the realities of our challenging days, good things are still happening.  We will look for short stories highlighting members of the Clarkson community demonstrating the values we all share – integrity, teamwork, humility and a commitment to making the world a better place.

Clarkson’s STEP Program celebrates Earth Day! On April 22, Earth Day, Clarkson’s IMPETUS (Integrated Mathematics and Physics for Entry to Undergraduate STEM) held its first virtual campus visit with 100 Good Knights in attendance. Good Knights were represented from all three campuses including faculty and students from the Potsdam, Beacon, and Capital Region campuses, along with more than 50 middle and high school students and teachers from nine local school districts. Participants were led in Zoom Breakout Rooms by Clarkson undergraduate STEM outreach volunteers and Master of Arts in Teaching students where they completed an Earth Day themed BINGO game.

Included in the virtual event were: Clarkson faculty Katie Kavanagh, Mike Ramsdell ’97, ’98, ’04, Ben Galluzzo, Jen Knack, Brad Smith, Josh Thomas, Seema Rivera, Devin Kapper ‘18, and Melissa Richards; staff Mary-Margaret Small, Brigette Walsh ’19 and Deb Shipp; graduate students Freddie Amoah-Darko, Joseph Judge, Emily Hass, Luke Moore ‘19, ‘20, Yao Xu, Yuzhou Pan, and undergraduates Mariama Jawo, Danielle Doyle, Nick Frost, Corey Ryder, Margaret McDonald, Brielle Cameron, and Carolune Shultes.

See if you can play along and name five Good Knights from the Zoom screenshot, across, down or diagonally.
