Our next conference call with our editorial team will feature our Health + Medicine desk, with editors Lynne Anderson, Stacy Morford and Bijal Trivedi. We encourage you to include communicators involved in different aspects of health and medicine, including public health, policy, research, epidemiology, medical education and more, to participate in this call. Scholars from many fields write for the Health + Medicine section. Please read on to see what each of the editors is focused on.
Lynne Anderson is interested in stories about:
- Health disparities related to race and socioeconomic levels
- Aging
- Consumer health issues
Stacy Morford is interested in stories about:
- Environmental health themes across the spectrum, including (but not limited to) pollution, climate change, vectors, environmental health risks and innovative solutions for buildings and cities, and environmental justice
- Evidence-based coronavirus lessons for the next wave or pandemic, particularly how to tailor responses effectively
- New COVID-19 research applied to public health
- Science of aging applied to caring for older adults
- New scientific research at the nexus of pollution and health
- Psychology relevant to current events
Bijal Trivedi is interested in stories about:
- Drug development for COVID-19
- Understanding mechanisms of coronavirus infection
- Chronic conditions emerging from viral infection
- Cutting-edge COVID-19 research: basic science, vaccines, genomics, evolution, antiviral drug development
- CRISPR gene editing, particularly for fixing genetic diseases
- Genetic testing and gene therapy
- Anything related to the human microbiome
- Engineered microbes for treating disease
- Stem cell and other cell-based therapies
- Genetics of complex disease
Here’s the agenda:
- Detail what the Health + Medicine desk plans to chase over the next six months.
