Baxter Appointed Chair of Air, Space, and Cyberspace Studies at Clarkson University

Lt. Col. Michelle L. Baxter has been appointed chair and professor of air, space, and cyberspace studies at Clarkson University.

Her responsibilities include recruiting, educating and training Air Force ROTC cadets in preparation for active duty service as commissioned officers in the United States Air Force through academic instruction in Air Force doctrine, history, and national security studies, as well as practical experience in all aspects of leadership and officership.

Baxter received her bachelor of science degree in criminal justice students from the University of North Dakota. Baxter received her commission through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 610, at the University of North Dakota, and entered the Air Force in July 2004. In 2012, she received her MBA from Trident University International.

She has held numerous positions at the unit, Numbered Air Force and center levels. Baxter has also served as the Officer in Charge, Al Udeid Air Base Expeditionary Theater Distribution Center and at the Joint Logistics Command at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan responsible for Class III Bulk distribution.

Baxter has had a decorated military career, receiving the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal, and the NATO Medal.

Most recently, she has been the Commander of the 60th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Travis Air Force Base, California.

AFROTC Detachment 536 resides at Clarkson University and supports agreements with St. Lawrence University, SUNY Canton, and SUNY Potsdam.
