Saturday, August 1st Student Arrivals

Dear Clarkson Community,

Over the weekend, we will be welcoming back our first group of residential students. Over 100 students will be moving on to campus to complete the NYS mandated 14-day quarantine for people who come from a state on a travel advisory list  prior to the start of our semester.

All of these students have submitted or will have to submit a negative COVID-19 test result prior to moving into their residences on campus. Although these students must abide by quarantine regulations, it is important to note that they are negative at the time of move in and will have a 2nd test result approved by the Health Center within their first seven days to reconfirm their status. Some students may also fulfill this requirement in other parts of NYS and have had these plans approved by Residence Life.  Unfortunately, no one can test out of the quarantine per NYS guidelines.

That same requirement to quarantine is in place for anyone who travels to/from the states on this list as well as international arrivals.  Employees should familiarize themselves with the interim COVID-19 policies posted in the Operations Manual as well as previous campus University communications.  This includes the interim policy regarding out-of-state travel for you and if members of your household also travel out/ back into NYS and live with you.

We appreciate your support in addressing some confusion in the community about the need for these students moving into campus this weekend — they are doing this to meet the NYS mandate.  They are not quarantining because of exposure or positive tests.

As with all campus restart plans, please refer to the Web page  and related links to announcements to different cohorts as well as FAQs.   We are fully committed to the health, safety and well-being of our greater University community.

Please let us know if you have questions or further concerns related to this communication and if you can not find the answers to questions in the FAQ and Reopening Plan documents.
