Collaborating for a Safer Community
When a crisis hits, communities often survive by coming together to share support, resources and expertise. Clarkson faculty and staff have certainly been doing their part during the pandemic by collaborating with the local healthcare system to devise solutions that enable enhanced, safer COVID-19 critical care. Cooling Down Computers
From your laptop heating up on your legs to laboratory computers struggling with degraded general purpose graphics processing units (GPGPU) performance as they compute scientific data, ineffective thermal management can slow computers down. Funded by an NSF grant, Professors Ming-Cheng Cheng and Yu Liu will explore how to keep things running smoothly with a novel thermal simulation methodology for GPGPUs. READ MORE
Cleaning Up the Competition
Clarkson students usually clean up at the New York Business Plan Competition, and this year was no exception. KLAW Industries, owned by Jack Lamuraglia ’21, Tanner Wallis ’21 and Binghamton University’s Jacob Kumpon, took second in the Energy & Environment category. Garden Guardian, owned by Zach Pilarchik ’22, was the concept stage winner in the AgTech & Food category. READ MORE
Publishing During the Pandemic
While many things ground to a halt during the COVID-19 pandemic, Professor Dana Barry’s writing did not. Barry has been busy publishing a book with Springer Nature — her fourth in five years. She is also preparing three papers, related to e-learning, for publication and authoring a manuscript titled “Teaching During the COVID-19 Pandemic.” READ MORE
