Clarkson University Launches Digital Transformation Course in Partnership with Siemens

Clarkson University is partnering with Siemens Digital Industries Software to launch a new 3-credit online course, Introduction to Digital Transformation, during the Spring 2021 Semester. Offered through Clarkson’s MS in Engineering Management program, the class can engage learners on emerging digital technology trends including 5G, AI, and the future of computing, as well as address the impacts these technologies are having on diverse industries including aerospace, semiconductors, utilities and pharmaceuticals.

“The digitalization of design and manufacturing has created demand for STEM skills and a deep understanding of digital transformation,” said Dora Smith, Academic Program Lead, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “Siemens is excited to collaborate with Clarkson to introduce this new course that is intended to empower the next generation of digital talent.”

The course was developed by Joun Technologies, an industry consulting firm. “As a Clarkson alum and former employee of Siemens, I am excited to share my industry expertise in digital transformation,” said Fram Akiki, President of Joun Technologies, who will be the adjunct instructor for the course at Clarkson.

The Clarkson MS in Engineering Management program caters to working professionals from engineering and technology-based organizations. Through an industry-driven curriculum, the program develops well-rounded technical leaders ready to bring innovative solutions to the challenges and opportunities facing their companies.
