From: Clarkson Ignite
Our third day of the Golden Knights Rise Innovation Challenge begins NOW! You’ll have until 7am tomorrow, Thursday, 2/18, to submit today’s project on Flipgrid.
Today’s challenge? Use easily available resources to creatively build a Rube Goldberg Machine! The idea here is to channel your creativity and make a routine task as complicated as possible. Your “complication” materials may be found in your immediate living quarters, ordered and delivered safely, or outdoors (remain masked and distanced). Your submissions will be judged on your creativity!
Submitting: Go to flipgrid.com/goldenknightsrise and submit your video for this Rube Goldberg Machine Challenge.
General FAQ:
How it works: Each day at 8:00 am we will issue a new student challenge activity that is to be completed using only items found in rooms/suites/etc. or what can be ordered and delivered to campus safely. Participating students will submit Flipgrid videos of 30 seconds or less by 7:00 am the following day. Our judges will then have from 8:00 am-11:30 am to choose their favorite and email their pick to ignite@clarkson.edu – we’ll announce the winners at noon! To learn more about submitting on flipgrid, click here.
Prizes: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded each day and will be based on creativity as determined by faculty and staff judges. The best part – you pick your prize from an awesome selection in our “Prize Catalog,” and we’ll order it just for you! This will be the same for the grand prize – but the items will carry greater value! To be eligible for the GRAND PRIZE, record “behind the scenes” video and pictures describing your experience. How did you come up with your idea, what was your inspiration, and how does this reflect your Clarkson experience? In other words we want to learn about your rise as a Golden Knight during this unprecedented time on campus.
Team Composition: Because of our quarantine – you can either compete individually OR you can pick one teammate to compete with – this person MUST be part of your immediate family unit (i.e. roommate/suitemate) and your team MUST remain the same for any challenge you participate in. Anyone breaking the rules of Team Composition will be disqualified. Prizes will be issued to each person in teams of two. This competition is open to ALL students – on campus, off campus, undergraduate students, graduate students, in Potsdam, or elsewhere – #LetsCURise!
