COVID-19 Read: No new cases; Be Smart on Breakdays, Parents Are Not in Your Campus Family Unit

In the communication:

  • Positive Case & Quarantine Update
  • Break Days
  • Parents Not Part of the Campus Family Unit
  • Vaccination Sites in Potsdam & Across County have Appointments Available

Golden Knights,

Positive Case & Quarantine Update:  No new cases today.  University Care Team Members  are currently supporting 11 students with active cases of COVID-19 and 60 students completing mandatory quarantines on and off campus.

Break Days:  Earlier today, we posted some organized activities for the March break days tomorrow and Wednesday.  Please keep to the mask protocols and especially when you are outside of our family unit.  It really does make a difference and will keep the bubble everyone has worked together to build.

Parents and Families Visiting Current Students: For purposes of the COVID-19 family unit, parents are not part of the family unit during the semester. Per the guidelines for all alert levels, visitors are not allowed on campus, including previously approved visitors. That includes parents (they can bring COVID-19 to campus, too) and friends, including those from other campuses.  An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists where people outside our family unit are present. St. Lawrence County Public Health said that residents should assume if they are out anywhere around other people a COVID-19 exposure is likely.

Vaccination information:  The NYS Mass Vaccination site at SUNY Potsdam has appointments available through next week for persons eligible under NYS 1a and 1b categories and with certain health conditions detailed  at  https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/phased-distribution-vaccine.  You can read the criteria, make an appointment at https://am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/  and then complete an attestation form https://forms.ny.gov/s3/vaccine that you are eligible to take with you to the appointment.   The County Website also has vaccination clinics posted at https://www.stlawco.org/Departments/PublicHealth/COVID-19Vaccine
