COVID-19 Read: Return to Campus for All Employees

Clarkson University Employees;

It has been one year since many of us left campus and were instructed to go remote. This past year has been challenging for everyone and we appreciate the resilience you have shown in your professional and personal commitments to our fellow community members.

With a statewide reduction in the number of cases, proven safety protocols in place and an increase in vaccine appointments that are available, we have seen New York State start to remove a number of restrictions over the past few weeks.

The University is reenergized by this news and we continue to be informed that more changes are coming. For example, St. Lawrence County Offices, where our main campus is located, report that they expect to be back in full force by April 12, 2021, and we anticipate all businesses will be allowed to have 100% of their employees return to their offices.

Our students have missed employees being on campus and as a University, it is important that we are here to support our students and their educational endeavors.  We will be asking all supervisors to work with employees who have not yet returned to work in person to have a plan in place to do so by April 5, 2021, with the goal to have everyone back in some capacity by April 30 and on the way to full return to in-person.

Among Clarkson’s Staff and Faculty we have had 230 employees self-report that they have been vaccinated. We continue to welcome employees back each week.  All employees who are working on campus and who are returning to campus are eligible for the vaccine according to guidance given to us by local public health and confirmed by CICU speaking to the Department of Health.  Please visit https://am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/  to register for your vaccination as an in person higher education employee as part of your return to work plan.  There are many appointments still available this week and next.  You can also make them at the County level as residents:  in St. Lawrence County at this link https://www.stlawco.org/covid-19-daily-update-center#pods and in Schenectady County at this link: https://www.schenectadycounty.com/COVID19/vaccine. .

The University will still continue to practice social distancing, require everyone to wear masks and maintain our daily screening tool for all members of our community, including asking all employees to continue to have visitors approved to come to campus and to self report travel. We are a safe campus and will continue to protect our employees and students while reopening all of our offices.
