Denim Day April 28 Wear Your Denim and Show Support

Dear Clarkson Community,
Please join us in supporting sexual violence prevention on Denim Day, April 28, 2021.

BackgroundThe Denim Day campaign was originally created due to a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because it was believed that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim.

Since then, wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of the need for prevention and education about sexual violence. The day itself is a time for activities dispelling misconceptions and educating people about sexual violence and its prevention.

Support Denim Day-Wear denim! Make a social statement with your fashion statement. Wear jeans with a purpose. Staff are allowed to participate.-Share your denim jeans or pin on social media and use #CUinDenim
