“First Tuesday” – September 7 at the Royal Indian Grill

On September 7, all faculty and staff are invited to stop by Royal Indian Grill at 38 Market St. in downtown Potsdam, for a complimentary beverage anytime between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. This event will also celebrate the retirement of Pam Nichols, longtime Director of Financial Aid. Please stop by to wish Pam well! Read on for a bit more about Pam:

After working in the field of financial aid for 35 years at Clarkson, Northeastern University and North Country Community College, Pam Nichols will be retiring on September 8, 2021.  Pam has devoted her career to helping students access higher education. Financial aid is a student-centered profession with a focus on helping students in whatever way possible to enable them to achieve their goals. Those who work closely with Pam know all about “fun with financial aid.”

Pam began at Clarkson in January 2009 as Director of Financial Aid after many years of stating, “I would never want to be a director.”  Pam embraced the challenge. During her tenure, she did much to move the Financial Aid Office forward by improving service to students, instituting new policies, automating many processes and developing positive relationships across departmental lines to address the needs of students.  Pam was instrumental in the merger with UGC, ensuring all federal requirements were met and has served as the functional financial aid lead in various PeopleSoft upgrades and other technological initiatives.

We all recognize Pam’s unconditional dedication, commitment and congeniality. Her accomplishments will always be there to remind us of how important she was. She will miss her staff who have worked tirelessly throughout the years as well as the comradery of SAS and colleagues in other departments. She is ready to move on to the next chapter that will include traveling, spending time with family, partaking in various outdoor activities and home improvement projects.

Come and wish Pam well in her retirement, enjoy a beverage with your colleagues and then have a bite to eat downtown at one of Potsdam’s many restaurants. As we tell our students, Potsdam is the quintessential college town, ready for you to explore together.

We hope you can join us! If you have any questions, please call 315-268-4483.

(Supervisors are reminded that they can release their staff early for this University event.)
