U.S. Army Major Tobias R. Clark, a native of Norwood, N.Y., has been appointed professor and department chair of military science at Clarkson University.
Clark enlisted in the Army and completed military police basic and advanced military training in 1996. As an enlisted military police soldier, he served in numerous positions throughout military police corps around the world. In 2002, then Staff Sergeant Clark was awarded an ROTC Green-to-Gold scholarship. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the military police corps upon graduation from the State University of New York at Potsdam in 2005. His first assignment was as a platoon leader and executive officer in the 978th Military Police Company at Fort Bliss, Texas.
His additional assignments include serving as the operations advisor for the 1st National Police Division Transition Team, in Baghdad, Iraq; S1 for the 1001st Military Police Battalion (CID) at Fort Riley, Kan.; G3 Plans officer for the 200th Military Police Command at Fort Meade, Md.; company commander for the 193rd Military Police Company at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; the Brigade A/S3 for the Joint Detention Group at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; provost marshal and director of emergency services, Brussels, Belgium; and operations officer 7th BDE United States Army Cadet Command, Fort Knox, Ky.
Clark’s military education includes the Military Police Officer Basic Course, the Military Police Captain’s Career Course, and the Special Operations Campaign Artistry Program course. Clark is also a graduate of the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Air Force Achievement Medal.
Clark holds a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from the State University of New York at Potsdam and a master of science in business and organizational security management from Webster University.
