Biology Seminar Series

Speaker: Dr. Jessica MacDonald

Assistant Professor of Biology
Syracuse University

Will present a talk titled:
Genetics, Epigenetics and Environmental Factors in Neocortical Development and Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Dr. MacDonald is an Assistant Professor in the Biology Department’s Program in Neuroscience at Syracuse University. She is interested in the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms regulating neuronal development and function, with a particular interest in disruptions in these mechanisms that cause neurodevelopmental and cognitive disorders. Her research focuses on how transcriptional and epigenetic regulators act at the interface between genes and the environment, translating exposure to extrinsic factors into distinct neuronal phenotypes. Her lab employs in vivo and in vitro animal models, and an array of molecular and cellular biological and microscopy approaches.
