Clarkson University Alumna Amy Castronova ’04 Reelected to Board of Trustees

Clarkson University alumna Amy Castronova of Rochester, N.Y., has been reelected to Clarkson’s Board of Trustees. She will serve as a member of the People Priorities committee.

She is vice president of the consumer products, healthcare and medical, and financial and business service divisions at Orbis Technologies Inc., an industry-leading content creation, management and publishing company based in Annapolis, MD.

Castronova joined Orbis Technologies in January 2021 as a result of the acquisition of InfoPros, where she served as vice president after the acquisition of her company, Novatek Communications, Inc. in 2019. Prior, Castronova owned and led Novatek for more than 17 years as president, supporting medical device and healthcare IT companies with their technical communication needs for compliance and new product launches.

She has been recognized as Rochester Business Person of the Year and the Young Entrepreneur Champion of the Year at the district, state, and regional levels by the U.S. Small Business Administration. She was invited to the White House for recognition as one of the top 100 entrepreneurs age 30 or younger who impact our economy.

Castronova has been named the Rising Star by the Rochester Women Presidents Organization, an Up and Coming Business Woman in Rochester, and is the recipient of the Society for Technical Communication Presidents Award.

She is a past director of the MedTech Association, a past vice president of the Society for Technical Communication Rochester Chapter, and a current member of the Women Presidents Organization and the Entrepreneurs Organization.

Castronova previously served as a Clarkson University trustee from 2009 to 2019 and as co-chair of the Clarkson Fund. She also served on Clarkson’s Alumni Council and on the admissions committee as a liaison to the Rochester area. She has been honored by Clarkson with both the Woodstock Award and the Charles S. Ehrlich ’56 Alumni Admission Award.

She earned her bachelor of science degree in interdisciplinary engineering and management from Clarkson in 2004 and was tapped in Phalanx, Clarkson’s highest honor society, in 2003.

Castronova and her husband, Matthew Ruby ’08, reside in Rochester, NY with their two daughters.
