Degree Planner Implementation

Last year, Clarkson University joined over 150 institutions in collaborating with HighPoint Solutions, a leader in student success solutions for PeopleSoft Higher Education, to deliver an improved user experience for students, advisors, faculty and staff across the University.

This past year we saw the successful implementation of two solutions:

Schedule Builder gives students an easy way to visualize and build their schedule that accommodates their life outside of school.  Department administrators can use Schedule Builder’s reporting tools to evaluate course demand in real time.

Campus Experience provides a secure, fast and easy way to navigate myCU for students, faculty, and staff, making it easier for students to manage classes and review academic information, financial aid, complete administrative tasks, and explore different majors. Campus Experience provides Clarkson employees with a seamless view into the student’s record, to make assisting students with administrative tasks much easier.

Currently a core team of functional technical users is in the process of implementing Degree Planner, which will be available at the end of March 2022, just in time for Fall 2022 enrollment.

Degree Planner automatically helps students identify the courses they should take each semester in order to graduate on time, and clearly indicates the sequence in which to take them.  Students and advisors can explore various scenarios and see which degree path fits their individual needs.  Degree Planner will provide department administrators with robust reporting tools to monitor student progress toward graduation, predict future course demand, and easily intervene when students go off their plan.

The core team, composed of the following individuals, will begin collaborating with the academic departments to configure individual paths this month, and the project will continue through early 2022.

Jen Stokes – Registrar

Krista Larock Wells – Associate Registrar

Adrienne Boswell – Interim Assistant Director of Office of University Advising
