AppsAnywhere: Strong Start/Expanded Access

Earlier this fall, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) introduced AppsAnywhere, the app store for accessing Clarkson licensed software on campus computers in computer labs and classrooms. OIT is pleased to share performance data from the initial roll out, and inform our community of expanded availability as we move forward.

It is important to note that students, faculty and staff may now access AppsAnywhere from, well….anywhere! That’s right – all of the rich tools students and faculty use on campus computers are now available from your own computer, wireless laptop or off campus computer. Many are available for iOS users as well. Learn more below…

AppsAnywhere By The Numbers

Clarkson’s AppsAnywhere store now hosts 160 unique applications with new apps coming online all the time. Performance monitoring reports peak time average of 20 launches per hour and 200 users are simultaneously accessing the tools. Access is managed by groups allowing managers to allocate network resources according to licensing terms. This gives managers greater insight into the level of use to better inform resource allocation moving forward.

We have seen a very smooth adoption of the new service with students and faculty reporting satisfaction with performance as well as ease of accessing additional tools. Staff are pleased with the ability to manage services centrally for agile solution delivery.

Below viewers can sample reports which indicate service status as of November 19, 2021:

Since launch in September, approximately two dozen new applications have been successfully added to AppsAnywhere in response to end user requests. Students and faculty may request to add their favorite application to the Apps Anywhere store. Once added, peers are able to access favorite tools from anywhere. This offers greater efficiency and mobility when working in teams or groups, ensuring everyone has access to the tools they need on their device from one convenient online location.

About Apps Anywhere

Apps Anywhere streams University licenced software from the cloud and makes software accessible to users on any computer on or off campus. The service was initially supported exclusively on campus computer labs and classrooms. Thanks to analytic and advanced management tools, managers are confident in understanding user volume and are proceeding with supporting broader adoption by end users on their own devices in offices, on laptops and in their homes. This is a boon to students, faculty and staff for greater access to powerful tools they can now use in their everyday work.
