Emma Russell ‘23, a rising senior from Albany, NY majoring in physics who is working with Assistant Professor of Physics Dhara Trivedi’s team, presented her research at The 50th Middle Atlantic Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society earlier this month.
Russell’s research focuses on the effective capture of contaminants such as common anion water pollutants and volatile organic compounds using MOFs presents a viable method for environmental remediation. Her research involves understanding concepts of physical chemistry and environmental science, as well as the computational counterpart of the investigation. She has been part of two publications by the Trivedi team and is currently exploring other porous materials for environmental remediation applications. In 2021, she received the 2021 Undergraduate Student Award from the Division of Environmental Chemistry (ENVR) of the American Chemical Society (ACS). She is also the American Physical Society Student Ambassador for Clarkson University.
The Trivedi team is currently working on a variety of projects including solar energy harvesting using planar materials, environmental remediation using porous materials, and method development for non-adiabatic molecular dynamics.
