Student Video Views is Focus of New Clarkson Grant

Echo360 recently awarded an Impact grant to Clarkson University’s Office of Information Technology’s Teaching and Learning Corner.

The study will take a close look at student viewership of video recordings as a part of the educational experience. The research team will look at historic data and will identify characteristics that drive viewership levels. Results will give educators an important lens to gauge whether video recordings are important to their students, and which actions they can take to ensure the highest level of viewership.

“We are excited to shine a light on video recordings as important learning resources for students. This study will allow us to better understand how much students use video and the benefits they realize by doing so,” shares Erin Blauvelt, Managing Instructional Designer. She along with team members Loretta Driskel and Laura Perry expect that results from the study will support future instructional development.

The grant is a collaboration with graduate research assistants, led by Dr. Sumona Mondal, an Associate professor of Mathematics at Clarkson University. For faculty interested in joining this study or would like to learn more, contact Ms. Blauvelt, eblauvel@clarkson.edu or 315/742-2084.

The grant is worth $2,000. In 2022, Echo360 awarded $140,000 in e3 Innovation and Impact Grants to 40 instructors and practitioners around the world.
