Dear Clarkson Community Members,
It’s that time of year again! Time to make sure we recognize those that serve and lead the Clarkson Community through their efforts of all shapes, sizes, and capacities. We need YOU to help make sure that happens by submitting a nomination for the Commendable Leadership, Commendable Service, and Distinguished Service awards!
Phalanx, Clarkson University’s highest honorary and leadership society, serves to recognize the accomplishments and interests of students, faculty, staff and members of the wider Clarkson community in scholarship, service, extra-curricular, and athletics at Clarkson. Each year, Phalanx awards Commendable Leadership and Commendable Service awards to individuals, and Distinguished Service awards to organizations at Clarkson that exemplify the Clarkson values and ideals. It is also from the pool of those who are awarded the Commendable Leadership Award that the next members of Phalanx are selected. The only way someone can win any of these awards, and get the recognition they deserve, is if YOU, the members of the Clarkson Community, nominate them.
Nominations for these awards are NOW OPEN and close on November 21, 2022. Please nominate yourself, your classmates, students, professors, colleagues, and campus organizations so that their hard work can be acknowledged and celebrated by the entire Clarkson community. Descriptions of Awards:
The Distinguished Service Award: This award is presented to the campus department or organization that has been recognized by CUSA or University administration. This group will be selected on the basis of service above and beyond the activities for which it has been established. This service shall be of significant benefit to the Clarkson community and/or the surrounding area.
The Commendable Service Award: A limited number of Commendable Service Awards are presented annually to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, faculty, staff, and community members who have demonstrated quality in service to their area/organization. The award candidate should be a well-rounded individual who excels in all aspects of the university’s life and is especially dedicated to serving their organization or Clarkson at large.
The Commendable Leadership Award: This award is presented to sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students, faculty, staff, and community members who have demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities and quality participation in organizations associated with Clarkson and the Potsdam community. The award candidate should exhibit exceptional leadership qualities and the versatility to balance all aspects of the university’s life. The new Phalanx members are selected from the group of Commendable Leadership award recipients.
