Traditional Cornsoup and Frybread Luncheon
Wednesday, November 9th – 11:30am to 1:30pm
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Lounge, Student Center
Enjoy traditional Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) Cornsoup and Frybread for lunch at the DEI Lounge in the Student Center.
Cornsoup is based on the recipes handed down by the generations that is a broth with traditional corn mixed with vegetables and flavored with meat.
There is a vegetation option.
Frybread is based on the historical limitations placed on Indigenous communities as they were delivered government rations of flour, salt, and lard. Today the biscuit is made with flour dough fried in oil and perfectly paired with soup or jam.
Enjoy a taste of Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) foods and learn more about Indigenous Heritage Month at the DEI Lounge!
