The Office of Residence Life Welcomes Students Back to Campus

Welcome back, Golden Knights! The Residence Life Office hopes you all had a wonderful winter break and holiday season. 

Below are some reminders and information for the spring semester. 

Returning to Campus:
Students may return to campus beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023. Students who are moving rooms must return old room keys and pick up new keys from the Office of Residence Life in Price Hall on the first floor between Monday and Friday beginning 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. If old room keys are not returned students will be charged for a lock change. Early arrival requests can be made by completing the request form on KnightlifeIf you have open bed space, please note our policy is as follows: The Residence Life Office reserves the right to make changes to an assignment at any time, with little or no notice, in response to facility limitations, change in enrollment, conflict resolution, etc. or to address the needs of the overall residential community. This includes reassigning students to any vacant spaces. This does not include students who have approved housing accommodations.

Meal Plan Changes:
You can change your meal plan through the Office of Residence Life, reslife@clarkson.edu before 4:30 p.m. on January 20th. More information regarding meal plan options can be found on the dining services webpage. If you are having issues with the meal plan/swipes/system itself please contact Sodexo, their office is located in Cheel.

Residence Life Staff Selection for 2023-2024:
Students who would like to apply to join the Residence Life team for the 2023-2024 academic year can apply beginning January 23rd via Knightlife. We are accepting applications until February 17th at 4:00 p.m. There will be an application and recommendation required. Applicants will need to attend the Group Activity Day on February 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interviews will be offered the following day to select candidates moving forward in the process. Decisions will be made about job offers by March 10th. The Residence Life Student staff (excluding working with the Clarkson School), will receive a scholarship to cover the cost of their full room cost for the year. The Clarkson School student staff receives full room and full board.

Housing Lottery Dates:
Please review the important dates related to our Housing Lottery which is where students select their housing for the next academic year. Students should review the full daily campus announcements which will begin going out in the next few weeks for more information. Students should feel free to reach out to the Residence Life Staff in their area with questions or email reslife@clarkson.edu or by phone 315-268-6642.

  • Office of Accessibility Housing Renewals and Requests – Due March 1st to the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS)
  • Housing Exemption Request Form (on Knightlife) – Due March 15th – review the student regulations for off-campus exemption policies
  • Housing Contract and Lottery Numbers (on myCU) – Available starting March 10th
  • Apartment Housing and Ham/Pow Plan Applications (on Knightlife) – Available March 10th until March 26th
  • OAS Housing Placements (on myCU) – March 20th – March 24th
  • Apartment Applications will be reviewed, averaged and groups notified of the determination – March 27th via email
  • Approved Apartment Housing Groups and Ham/Pow Plan groups will select housing – March 28th
  • Senior Housing Lottery Night – April 4th
  • Junior Housing Lottery Night – April 5th
  • Sophomore Housing Lottery Night – April 6th

Campus Breaks:

February Break (February 23 – 26)
During February Break, which takes place Feb. 23-26, the residence halls and limited dining halls will remain open (meal plan will not be available), and students do not need to vacate housing for this break. House Advisors and Resident Advisors will be on duty nightly for emergencies.

Spring Break (March 10 – 19)
During Spring Break students will not be allowed to stay on campus unless they have received approval from the Office of Residence Life or are on the team of an approved sport. Spring Break takes place from when classes end on Friday, March 10th until 8 am Sunday, March 19th.

  • All students will be able to stay in their residential spaces until Saturday, March 11th at 10:00 am. At that time Residence Life staff and other university officials will be inspecting and closing rooms.
  • If a student needs to stay past 10:00 a.m. on March 11th, regardless of how long, they must log into Knightlife and complete a Vacation Housing Request Form.
  • If a student needs to arrive back to campus earlier than March 19th at 8:00 a.m., when the residence halls reopen, they must log into Knightlife and must log in to Knightlife and complete a Vacation Housing Request Form.
  • Students cannot be on campus during this time without permission

End of Semester:
At the end of the semester, non-graduating students must vacate their residence halls within 24 hours of their last exam, or by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10th. Graduating students will need to vacate the campus by 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 14th. If a student needs to stay past 10:00 a.m. on May 10th, regardless of how long,  they must log into Knightlife and must log in to Knightlife and complete a Vacation Housing Request Form. Students cannot stay on campus without approval. Clarkson will not keep student items on campus during the summer vacation.
