Message from the Provost and Deans: Rescheduling Classes

Faculty on the Potsdam Campus,

Thank you for your patience and teamwork today while our crews worked with National Grid and others to restore power to several parts of campus that were part of an outage that began early this morning.  The University Emergency Response Team is debriefing with NG and others.

As we shared earlier as part of our role with the emergency response team, coordination is needed to reschedule the classes that were impacted.

Here are the following options you have to meet the classroom contact hours:

  • We will use today’s class schedule and reserve the same classroom space for all classes that were canceled today on Monday, May 1, 2023.  This is the first day of reading week.
  • As an alternative to using the time above to meet in person, you may choose to record a lecture capture equivalent to today’s missed time with students and distribute this to students.  The University Helpdesk can help you do this in Moodle if you have not done this previously.
  • If you need a different pathway to make up today’s time with your students, please make a proposal and work with your department chair and dean so that we can try to limit the amount of conflicts that students may face.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your dean or me as appropriate.
