Celebration of International Mother Language Day on 21st February

Bangladeshi Students Association at Clarkson University (BSACU) and the DE&I Office are hosting International Mother Language Day for the second time at Clarkson. This is an annual observance held on the 21st of February to embrace and promote awareness of linguistic diversity and multilingualism. It’s also a National Day for Bangladesh to commemorate the sacrifices that were made to protect Bangla as the national language in 1952 at the time of the Movement of the Bengali Language. International Mother Language Day was proclaimed by the General Conference of UNESCO in November 1999 and has been celebrated throughout the world since 2000 to create awareness of multilingualism and peace worldwide.

Please join us in this year’s exhibition and activities! This is a wonderful opportunity to enhance our knowledge and embrace the love, and significance of our mother tongues. Open to all!
