Moodle 4 is HERE

Beginning June 27, 2023, all students, faculty and staff at Clarkson will enter Moodle 4 when logging in to moodle.clarkson.edu. Students and faculty enrolled in Summer 2023 semester and quarter term courses will see their courses in the Course Overview block. All others see only courses in their Course Overview block once their Fall courses are created and enrollments are complete.

This step is a planned phase as a part of the migration to Moodle 4. Moving forward, courses in Moodle 3 are accessed through a link in the Help Hub on the Dashboard. More about the project to migrate to Moodle 4.

Note: Pre first year student experience courses must continue to access Moodle 3 as you complete those learning experiences. Additional communications will be distributed to those impacted by this latest update.

All remaining non credit courses that currently reside in Moodle 3 will migrate to Moodle 4 over the next several months. Until the migration is complete, students and faculty must click the Moodle 3 link from the Moodle 4 Dashboard for accessing those courses.

Note these important updates in Moodle 4:

Dashboard: Updates to the overall navigation on your Dashboard: You’ll note more white space with fewer menus. This aims to offer quick access to the courses you are enrolled in. More about Dashboard.

Course Overview: Access current courses you are enrolled in. In general before a semester starts and after it ends, courses are hidden from student view. Students should note course start and end dates, and work with the instructor for access to the course. More about Course Overview block

Course Content: Locate all your course information from the Course Content drop down menu. Select the desired week or topic to access resources and activities posted there by your instructor.

Tours: Looks for helpful tips in the pop up windows called Tours. Moodle 4 will use Tours to help introduce new features and offer guidance. Check them out.

Wrap Up:

The team is working throughout the Summer to import courses into Moodle 4.
