Large Language Models: An Overview

Abstract: In this presentation, a high-level overview of large language models will be covered. Topics include tokenization, predictive modeling, and how to make the predictive model creative. Problems such as hallucinations, bias, and cost will also be briefly addressed. 

Mahesh Banavar is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clarkson University. He received the BE degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Karnataka, India in 2005, the MS degree and the PhD degree, both in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University in 2007 and 2010, respectively. His research areas are in signal processing and machine learning. He is the director of the CU CoSiNe lab. He is member of the Eta Kappa Nu honor society. He is an EMT and member of the Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad.
