Important Information About November Break

Dear Clarkson University Students,

November Break is just around the corner, and we want to ensure that your plans go smoothly. Please take note of the following important information:

  1. Break Dates: November Break begins after classes end on Tuesday, November 21st, with students required to vacate campus by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22nd. We kindly ask that you plan your transportation arrangements accordingly.
  1. Thanksgiving Closing Form: It is essential that all students complete the Thanksgiving Closing Form, which can be accessed here: Thanksgiving Closing Form. Please remember that students who are not approved by the Office of Residence Life to remain on campus after 10:00 a.m. will incur charges to their student account. This form is mandatory to complete.
  1. Request for Extended Stay: If you need to request to stay past 10:00 am on November 22nd, regardless of the duration, please log into Knightlife and complete a vacation housing request form on the Residence Life page: Vacation Housing Request.
  1. Approved University Team/Event/Function: If you are staying on campus as part of an approved University team, event, or function (e.g., athletics, SPEED Teams), your coach or faculty advisor must connect with the Residential Housing Manager, Emma Blaiklock, at eblaiklo@clarkson.edu.
  1. Returning to Campus: You can return to campus as of 8 a.m. on Sunday, November 26th. If you require an earlier return, please submit an Early Arrival Request Form through Knightlife.
  1. Classes Resume: Classes will resume on the morning of Monday, November 27th. The university will be closed during this time, and students cannot stay on campus without prior approval from the Residence Life Office.
  1. Closing Instructions: Failure to properly close your room may result in fines. Before you vacate your room, make sure to follow these instructions:
  • All roommates must complete the contract before leaving.
  • Ensure that all trash and recyclables are properly disposed of.
  • Close and lock the windows, and close the blinds.
  • Unplug all electrical devices. Clean refrigerators but keep them plugged in.
  • Turn off all lights.
  • Leave your room broom-swept or vacuumed clean.
  • Close and lock your doors.
  • Set the thermostat to 65 degrees.
  1. Dining on Campus: Please note that there will be no dining options available on campus during the break.
  1. Room Inspections: University officials may enter your room during the break. Failure to vacate campus or properly close your room (including completing the closing form) may result in fines and/or going through the university conduct system.
  1. Leaving a Vehicle on Campus for Break: If you are planning to leave a vehicle on campus for any part of the break, please contact Campus Safety and Security at safetyandsecurity@clarkson.edu for parking instructions.

We hope this information helps you prepare for a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving Break. If you have any questions or require assistance, please reach out to the Office of Residence Life.
