A winter weather advisory is in effect for Northern New York from Tuesday evening 1/23/24 through Thursday morning 1/25/23. A winter weather advisory is in effect for the Capital Region from Tuesday afternoon 1/23/24 until early Wednesday afternoon 1/24/24.
In the North Country, freezing rain and light snow is expected with ice accumulation of up to three-tenths of an inch and snow accumulation of one to four inches. In the Capital Region, mixed precipitation is expected with snow accumulation of up to two inches and ice accumulation of a light glaze.
Winter storms are often accompanied by the potential for a power outage. In the event of an outage, Clarkson’s Rave Alert System will update the campus community with necessary information, including available dining and emergency power locations.
In preparation for a possible power outage, take an inventory of the items you need that rely on electricity. Charge any cell phones or other devices that you will need during this time. Plan for batteries and other alternative power sources to meet your needs if the power goes out, such as a portable charger or power bank.
Power can be critical for some medical devices or supplies. If this applies to you, please contact Campus Safety & Security (315-268-6666) for emergency assistance during an outage. You may also contact the Office of Accessibility Services (oas@clarkson.edu) to make a proactive plan for possible future emergencies.

Please take extra precautions when walking on campus:
– Maintain three points of contact when entering or exiting a vehicle (one hand and two feet, or two hands and one foot)
– Use handrails where available
– Avoid talking on cell phones
– Wear proper footwear
– Maintain your center of balance
– Take steps slowly
– Watch for slippery areas
