OIT Telephone Replacement Project Underway

Clarkson’s Office of Information Technology informs the Potsdam campus community that an initiative has restarted to replace existing campus telephone handsets located in many administrative offices. Most of the new telephones to be installed are Mitel 6920 – 6 soft keys, 3.5″ display telephone handsets. OIT Service Technicians will be performing the replacements now through the end of Summer 2024 as time permits.

This project comes as existing telephones are more than fifteen years old and are no longer supported for service or replacement by the manufacturer. This is a part of an ongoing effort to maintain the viability of Clarkson’s communication network infrastructure.

What to Expect:

Interruption to normal daily operation is expected to be minimal. Technicians will begin in locations in CAMP, followed by Rowley, ERC, TAC, Science Center, then BH Snell. Technicians will check-in with office staff as they proceed with installation and training on the features of the new telephones.
