Generation of novel optical microscopy assays in pursuit of translating therapies for various pathologies

Abstract:

The overarching objective of this research was to translate therapies for multiple disease indications.  The diseases studied were cellular senescence, glioblastoma multiform, and chronic wounds. Though these diseases have distinct biology, there were common challenges encountered to advance therapeutic development. Circumventing the common challenges required the development of novel assays.

While the primary aim of the venture was to discover new therapies, the solutions developed to overcome technical challenges have also yielded innovative research tools. The findings presented in this work not only offer new utility for high-throughput drug screening, but also provide new insights into the biological mechanisms of the diseases themselves.
