What is a CSA?A CSA, or community-supported agriculture, is a way to support local farmers and get fresh, local veggies every week.
Benefits for Farmers
By subscribing at the beginning of the season, the farmer can better know how much to plant and have a guaranteed customer. This also helps offset sunk costs.

What is the Student CSA?The Student CSA that Clarkson offers is in partnership with Birdsfoot Farm in Canton, NY. Birdsfoot Farm is a small diversified organic farm run by farmer Dulli Tengeler. The student CSA runs from August 30th to December 7th. Each week you get a box excepting school breaks!
What is in one CSA share?
It depends on the month!
For example:September: 2lb potatoes, 1lb carrots, 1 lettuce, 2 zucchinis, 1 summer squash, 1-2 cucumbers, 2-3lb tomatoes, 1lb beans, 2 garlic, 1 bunch of herbNovember: 2lb of potatoes, 1lbs of carrots, 1 garlic, 1/2lb of parsnips, 1/4lb of celeriac, 1/2lb of beets and/ or greens
Great! How Much Does it Cost?One student share costs $390 for the semester. If you pay in full before May 1st, you get a $10 discount.
I want local veggies… but I can’t eat that many tomatoes:(This year we are trying to match students to split the CSA share box. You will be paired with a buddy or 3 (depending on what % of the share you want) and pay that percentage. For example, if you want half of a share you would pay $145 for the semester. If you would like a quarter share, you would pay $72.50 for the semester.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE ARE TRYING THE SPLIT SHARE MODEL. IF YOU CHOOSE THIS OPTION WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO WORK WITH YOU AND YOUR PARTNERS TO EQUITABLY DIVIDE.
I am a Faculty/ Staff Member. Can I still get a CSA?YES! You may also be interested in the full fall and/or summer CSA.
